It’s Spring! And you know what that means?! It means it’s time for my annual road trip up to Byron Bay. You may be wondering why I drive almost nine hours to get to the beach when I have a beach pretty much at my doorstep in Milperra, but being in Byron is an experience like no other, and it signifies our transition to the warmer weather… which makes me happier than anything else in the world!
Each year before I go on the road trip with my three best mates, I visit a mechanic near me to make sure my car is fit for the drive. She’s pretty old so she often needs some work, but that’s the price you pay when you buy a third hand car when you’re struggling to make ends meet at university. I haven’t had the chance to buy myself a new car since graduating last year as I haven’t been able to secure myself a full time job yet. But that’s okay! I’m treating this year as my gap year and you bet that I’ll be going on plenty of road trips to Byron this summer.
I’m assuming that at my next service I’m going to have to get a car air con regas. My aircon hasn’t been working as well as it used to and I know that’s going to cause some trouble when four of us are packed out in my car for nine hours. When I’m at the service, I’ll have to ask for the aircon to be checked by an auto electrician local to Milperra. The mechanics around here, in my experience, are excellent and really helpful. I’m sure that if I ask them to check something specific out they’ll do it, and I trust them to let me know whether something needs to be done or not.
I’m so excited for this year’s road trip. It’s going to be a massive week up in Byron, and the drive is pretty cool too.
